Job Description

To provide strategic and operational leadership for all mining activities, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective production in line with business objectives. The Mine Manager is accountable for production performance, regulatory compliance, and overall mine site management.

Key Responsibilities
  • 1. Operational Leadership
  • Oversee all mining operations (drilling, blasting, loading, hauling, and ore delivery).
  • Ensure production targets are achieved in line with mine plans and budgets.
  • Optimize mining methods, equipment utilization, and workforce productivity.
  • 2. Strategic Planning & Execution
  • Implement short-, medium-, and long-term mine plans in collaboration with Technical Services.
  • Contribute to Life of Mine (LOM) planning and resource optimization.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs.
  • 3. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
  • Champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all HSE policies.
  • Ensure adherence to Ghanaian mining regulations and environmental standards.
  • Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
  • 4. Financial & Cost Control
  • Develop and manage operational budgets and cost controls.
  • Monitor and report on cost performance, identifying variances and implementing corrective measures.
  • Ensure cost-effective use of resources including equipment, labor, and consumables.
  • 5. Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing mining team.
  • Ensure workforce competency through training and development programs.
  • Foster a disciplined, accountable, and performance-driven culture.
  • 6. Stakeholder & Regulatory Engagement
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies, including the Minerals Commission Ghana, to ensure compliance.
  • Engage with local communities and stakeholders to maintain positive relationships.
  • Support audits, inspections, and reporting requirements.
  • 7. Reporting & Governance
  • Prepare and present operational reports to senior management.
  • Ensure accurate production, safety, and cost reporting.
  • Maintain proper documentation and governance standards.
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Strong understanding of mine planning and scheduling.
  • Knowledge of drill and blast optimization.
  • Experience with mining software (e.g., Surpac, Datamine, MineSched).
  • Solid financial and cost management skills.
  • Strong leadership and decision-making capability.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • High level of accountability and integrity.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to perform under pressure in a demanding operational environment.
